The incidence of male infertility has increased dramatically over the past century. Until recently the cause of this phenomenon has been something of a mystery. However we now know that environmental factors such as synthetic estrogens, pesticides, heavy metals and other pollutants are responsible for this problem. These agents inflict oxidative damage on the highly susceptible developing sperm to such an extent that they are now the leading cause of male infertility. The good news is that the use of supplementary dietary antioxidants to treat oxidative stress-induced male infertility is yielding very good results.
